Jockeys and sequences

I'll just be watching Ascot today and hoping at least one of my two selections for Ascot top jockey finds themselves in the winners' enclosure.

In the overall championship I am rather concerned about the steady progress of Richard Hughes who will destroy my book should he prevail. Worryingly he says he is going for the title (he repeatedly said he wasn't going for it in 2010 when he rode 189 winners and lost by two!). We will just have to hope for the best as his current price of 7/2 is not worth a trade given our commitments. Hanagan has dropped away having obviously decided to be more selective. The results from the last 14 days tell the tale:

Hughes 16/65 24.6%
Buick 14/46 30.4%
Moore 11/54 20.4%
.
.
.
Hanagan 5/49 10.2%

Hughes taking 65 rides in 14 days is significant.

Spare a thought for last year's runner-up De Sousa (161 wins, four short) who managed to break an 84-loser streak with last night's treble at Kempton.

Talking of losing streaks, I am now on seven (in five races). Let's hope this is not going to be a streak of Pricewise proportions. Tom Segal ended a 36-loser streak when the favourite won the last yesterday (4/1, 7/1 advised). Even when you are allegedly the "best tipster service in the world" you have to cope with these spells!
